All lessons will be provided by Nick Szalacinski and will take place at the Mullett Ice Center in Hartland, WI or any determined site. Private lessons are offered for specialized 1-on-1 training, catering to each athlete's strengths as well as areas of improvement. In addition, I offer group lessons to assist with creating a competitive atmosphere with players in similar age groups. These lessons are offered both on and off the ice, as I appreciate the importance of working on the basics as well as more advanced skills. Most clients have taken advantage of a combination of the two.
I focus specifically on the fundamentals of hockey. Going back to the basics is necessary to properly advance in the game. Prior to each lesson, I will discuss which skills you would like your athlete to improve upon. We will work on edge control, speed, accuracy, and the desired skill sets, while keeping the atmosphere fun and exciting. You, as a parent, are welcome to stay for the entirety and will receive a detailed verbal report of the lesson, as well as a recommendation for things to concentrate on going forward. I have a love and passion for the game and helping players excel. I want to help each player achieve their goals, not only for the next season but their long term goals as well.
My hockey background consists of 14 years on the ice. I played four years of Varsity hockey and then went on to play Junior A hockey. Since I stopped playing competitively, I have been training and coaching players on youth, high school, AAA teams, Prep School to NCAA Division 1 college teams for 8 years. I am the director of skill development for Arrowhead Youth Hockey Association and an assistant coach for the Arrowhead High School Varsity program in Hartland, WI. I am also a certified Hockey Director by USA Hockey and hold a level 4 coaching certifcation. Most of my coaching experience and coaching styles were gained/certifcation while working behind former NHL and AHL players.
